Billingsley Creek Campground

Hagerman, Idaho

A nice, new, full-hookup campground that isn’t too far off of I-84, making it good for a quick stop or for a little longer one to visit the hot springs and see Shoshone-Falls in Twin Falls.

Review

We gave Billingsley Creek a solid 4 because it was clean, newer-feeling, spacious, had full hookups, and worked well as a short, southern Idaho stop. The setting is pretty, and it makes a good base if you want to visit hot springs or explore the Hagerman/Twin Falls area.

There were only two drawbacks: exposure and setup. Our concrete site still needed some leveling, which was a little surprising for a newer campground, and there was not much protection from wind or storms. Did we mention the WIND?!?!?! It was non-stop and and there was no hiding from it. It wasn’t exactly deal-breaking, but it’s worth knowing before you roll in.

This is not a “drive across the country just for the campground” kind of place, but it is a very good stop if you are already traveling through the area.

Trailerability

The drive off the interstate was easy, and once we found the correct entrance, the park itself was easy to navigate with the trailer.

DO NOT TRUST GPS – We were using RV Life GPS directions like we normally do, but since this is a newer park, it directed us to a dead end road. When we switched to Google, it tried getting us to use a gravel road (which we later learned would have worked but not well). Once you get close, look for the park sign and main entrance and turn in there even though it doesn’t mention the campground at all. There is a picture of it in the gallery.

Towmads Top Tips

  • Don’t trust GPS (see Trailerability section).
  • Be prepared to be exposed to the elements.
  • Leave time for exploring the area if you can swing it.

Nearby Finds

Unfortunately, this wasn’t a long stop for us. We had to deal with some trailer issues so we didn’t get to explore the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument or much of the State Park itself, both things we want to make time for when we are through the area again.

We did, however, make time for Miracle Hot Springs (a place we really enjoyed from our previous stay in Twin Falls). They offer outdoor soaking pools and private soaking room options. Be sure to book ahead of time to get a reservation for the private room.

A little further into Twin Falls, you can visit the Shoshone Falls, which we’ve done previously and highly recommend. If that is the main attraction for you in the area, then you might consider staying at the city park that is in town, but personally, we’d rather stay at Billingsley Creek and make the drive.
